We have made a workaround regarding the ad server problem and we will finally be launching the Viewbar. Some, but not all, of our ad networks will be connected. These networks have enough ads on them, so we are comfortable releasing the software as we continue to work on the outstanding issues that remain with the other networks. All of the preliminary Viewbar functions are there, but with the ad problems we will not be initially launching with the personalized ad targeting. Direkte fra company bloggen: April is upon us, and as we have mentioned previously on this blog, the Viewbar is slated for release this month. We will be sending an email directly to each Member when their account is authorized for Viewbar download with more detailed information regarding the software release. Here are a few initial details:

The Download Process: As we have discussed, we will be releasing the Viewbar first to Members who joined first. Currently, the plan is to have the Viewbar first be available to Members with ID#s beginning in BBBB to BBBF (as well as Members with an ID# beginning in “AGLO”). This is about 50,000 Members. We will then continue releasing the Viewbar to more and more Members in the order in which they signed up (again, all Members will be notified by email when their account is authorized for Viewbar download).

Multiple Users on One Viewbar: As stated previously, multiple Members may use the same Viewbar on the same computer. Only one Viewbar download will be necessary as the Viewbar software will enable each Member to log in and log out using their AGLOCO Member ID# and password (obviously, only one Member ID# can be accumulating Viewbar hours at any one time).

Initial Launch for Windows: The initial Viewbar release will be for Windows Vista, XP, and 2000. Later, we will release Mac and Linux versions of the Viewbar. Until that occurs, Mac/Linux users can still log onto any supported Windows computer and accumulate their five hours. Hopefully, five hours a month (about 10 minutes a day on average) on a Windows-based computer can be manageable until the Mac version can be released.

Seamless Updates: The v1.0 Viewbar is purposely simplistic and minimalist, but it also comes equipped with an automatic self-updating feature. Once you download the Viewbar for the first time, your Viewbar will be seamlessly updated with new additions and features as they become available.

Revenue and Ad Deals: As a member of the revenue team, I am happy to report that we now have agreements with 17 ad networks. These agreements plus some direct advertising deals provide AGLOCO with thousands of advertisers with thousands of ads for the Viewbar software.

Also, AGLOCO had a record day of new Member signups yesterday – just wanted to thank all for you who have been supporting AGLOCO with your continued recruiting efforts.

Overskriften er:

Online advertising: New business models let communities of internet users control how their personal information is bought and sold

Jeg citerer her fra artiklen: Yet another example, established by a group of Stanford graduates, is Agloco. “Advertisers, search providers and online retailers are paying billions to reach you while you surf,” says its website. “How much of that money are you getting? You deserve a piece of the action.” Like AttentionTrust, Agloco is based on a browser plug-in that tracks users'' online activity and then uses this information to allow advertisers to target people with specific interests. Agloco promises to return 90% of ad revenue, sales commissions and other income to its users. In a further twist, those who recruit other users get a cut of the revenue, too. Akshay Mavani of Agloco says the firm is on target to sign up 10m users by July.

Hvis I interesserer jer for tiden før AGLOCO og Internettets udvikling generelt, så er der et interessant indlæg her.

AGLOCO and pay-to-surf is not a brand new idea. In fact, though different in a few key ways, AGLOCO is the new version of AllAdvantage, a company that, in its less than two years of existence, paid out over $120 million to its members and proved that pay-to-surf could indeed work.

Those of us who remember AllAdvantage remember the fever of that time: people were starting small web-based companies and making millions, sometimes in just weeks. The economy was booming. Stocks were red-hot, and the Internet was changing everything. AllAdvantage was no less revolutionary - you, the user, were going to get your share just for using the Internet. It was a smashing success.

AllAdvantage was launched on March 31, 1999 - the first "infomediary" in which companies and web surfers would mutually benefit. It immediately became tremendously famous. People even covered their cars with advertisements for the company so that all could see. Within little time, AllAdvantage vaulted into the top 20 most visited Internet sites. 10 million members signed up.

The program used the Viewbar, a software application members downloaded from the main site that observed the pages surfed by the user and showed ads related to the content being viewed in the user''s browser. It was the best way for big companies to reach people with direct, relevant offers.

The resounding success of AllAdvantage was also due to the referral system put into place to encourage the spread of the program. Every user got their own personal code that they would use to get referral credits. Each new member referred resulted in a raise in income, and furthermore, the people referred by those referrals would also boost the original member''s income. This was the case up to 5 levels below the original user.

This yielded a nice sum of money for those who took advantage of it. In less than two years, AllAdvantage.com had paid out over $120 million in checks to the loyal users of the program. So why then did AllAdvantage suddenly cease to exist?

The answer has to do with the situation of the tech market in 2000. In those days, everybody had illusions of grandeur about the Internet and e-commerce. A company without any profit to speak of would attract gigantic investments just by existing. Eventually, however, this loony arrangement began to melt once investors started realizing there was nothing upholding the boom. Suddenly, no one dared to invest. At the time, AllAdvantage was about to go public (the IPO was to take place during early 2000) but it was too late. After a market freefall, AllAdvantage was forced to close its doors.

With the advent of AGLOCO, history repeats itself. But then how can we be sure that it will survive this time?

In the year 2000, the Internet was young. Its potential was great, but it was far from mature. There was no precedent with respect to programs like AllAdvantage; everything was done while flying at 10,000 miles per hour. Nobody knew yet what the best way would be to launch an advertising campaign, since there was very little information back then about Internet users'' habits. Nothing was stable or set in stone. Everything was either a huge success or a colossal collapse.

Today is different. There are Internet companies like Google, Wikipedia, IMDB.com (film database) Adobe, etc., that are here to stay. It''s no longer possible to just start up a company and have it become one of the biggest in the world in 2 weeks. Value Proposition 1: You have Viewbar on screen, we pay you for it.

Having a Viewbar on your screen while you are actively browsing the Internet offers benefits to AGLOCO, advertisers, and Internet companies. The internet advertising industry is booming, as companies are trying many different ways to get their information in front of your eyes. As such, every inch of real estate on your screen is valuable (as demonstrated by the “million dollar homepage” last year) www.milliondollarhomepage.com. The Viewbar will show a targeted text ad, and advertisers are more than happy to pay AGLOCO for the opportunity to put that in front of you.

Another reason you get paid is because having an active Viewbar on your screen means that you are asking AGLOCO to be your commission partner. Many things you do on the internet make money for middlemen without you realizing it. AGLOCO never requires Members to do any of these things, but activities such as joining communities (such as eBay and MySpace), searching (such as on Yahoo and Google), downloading free software (such as Adobe Acrobat), and making purchases (such as on Orbitz and Amazon.com), will in many cases generate money for a middleman. By having an active Viewbar on your desktop, you designate AGLOCO to be your middleman. This makes AGLOCO money and, in return for that, AGLOCO pays you back. So, in that way, having an active Viewbar on your screen makes you money for doing what you would ordinarily do.

If being “too good” is our only problem, I think we’re in great shape!

Joking aside, seeming “too good to be true” is probably the number one reason people DON’T sign up for AGLOCO. It seems strange to “get something for nothing.” The truth is, you’re not getting something for nothing. You’re giving the Viewbar a small share of your computer monitor, which we (and apparently many advertisers) consider extremely valuable. You are also choosing us as your partner for commissions, referrals, and fees accumulated through everyday browsing. So, instead of some other middleman making this money, AGLOCO makes it. We win, you win, and the advertisers/companies win for getting your business.

Also, if you decide to refer other Members and build the community, you get more because YOU have built the community and provided it with its most valuable resource: more Members. By providing value to AGLOCO, we provide value back to you for your efforts.

Nu hvor jeg har spurgt en del ind til Agloco, så må det være på sin plads at jeg skriver igen, nu hvor jeg er blevet klogere på det.

Det første jeg vil sige er, at Agloco slet ikke er opbygget på samme måde, som de svindelfirmaer jeg har refereret til.

En forklaring af disse...

Deltagelsen var gratis. Man kunne optjene point til egen annoncering og man kunne købe "enheder" i firmaet, og dermed tjene nogle procenter om dagen på at autosurfe X antal sider.
Den klækelige indtjening blev forklaret med, at annoncørerne betalte store summer af penge for at nå ud til brugerne (hvilket de formegentlig også gjorde). Men man kunne jo regne ud, at dette næppe skabte det store indtjeningspotentiale og ergo var der en gråzone. - Denne blev forklaret ved, at firmaet fra investeringspuljen havde gang i sekundære investeringer af en udefineret størrelse og i det hele taget, så var hele indtjeningen i disse firmaer/programmer yderst udefineret.

I virkeligheden blev den primære omsætning skabt via de enheder som størstedelen af brugerne "investerede" i. Disse penge blev brugt til, at betale de tidligere "investorerer/brugere"... Så der var primært tale om penge der skiftede hænder mellem fra nye brugere til de gamle brugere.

Så det var en slags komination imellem et pyramidespil og et kædebrev på en ganske raffineret måde. - Under alle omstændigheder var det et pengespil.

Jeg kunne hurtigt konstatere, at Agloco er bygget helt anderledes op.

Grundideen ligner til forveksling hinanden. Men der er flere markante forskelle, som klart taler til Aglocos fordel.

Agloco er ikke ligeså profitabelt et system som pengespillene. Men dette er i virkeligheden en god ting, da indtjeningspotentialet dermed også er meget mere reelt. - Regnestykket går ganske pænt op og der er ikke den samme gråzone overhovedet.

Brugerne skal IKKE købe investeringsenheder og i det hele taget ikke betale. - For betalingen kommer fra annoncørerne der køber sig til folks opmærksomhed så at sige.

At annoncører køber folks opmærksomhed er jo ikke noget nyt fænomen. Det er jo simpel reklame og dette "leverer" Agloco, ligesom Agloco leverer øjnene der ser disse reklamer. - Der bliver sagt med andre ord etableret kontakt imellem potentielle kunder og annoncørerne; og mere er der sådan set ikke i det. Og begge parter kan se sig tilfredse.

Jeg har derfor meget svært ved at påstå, at Agloco skulle være risikabelt eller farligt. Man risikerer som max. at spilde sin tid; men dette er jo altid en risiko uanset hvad vi foretager os.

For folk der er nye i MLM kan Agloco være et "sikkert" sted at prøve sig af.

For selvom Agloco ikke er et MLM firma; så kører det efter nogle MLM principper. - Dvs. man gør egentlig det samme; man anbefaler "noget" og modtager betaling via et system.

Det er kort sagt uskyldigt nok og efter min mening ikke et firma man behøver at sætte paraderne op overfor. :)

In other words, “Are you and I spending our time on a winning effort?”

I think the answer is a resounding YES. And this is even more true today than it was in November when we opened up the Membership website.
Why do I feel that way ?

We have over 30,000 founding Members who have already actively recruited others
We have over 1,000,000 pages on the Internet talking about AGLOCO (per Google search)
We have comments from Bill Gates (and now this week, YouTube Founder Chad Hurley) indicating that we are on the right track
And we have you, probably the most active pre-launch community ever on the Internet. Who else could produce 1,000,000 pages in two months about a company that is still in pre-launch?
