VPS.NET is looking to add top talent to our already-strong team. If you’re the best at what you do, we want you to join us.

VPS.NET is looking for an experienced Senior Ruby on Rails & System Admin Engineer to join our team in either London or Salt Lake City. Along with our current development staff, you’ll play a key role in developing, maintaining, and expanding upon the VPS.NET offering.

We are immediately seeking a qualified candidate who:

Skills required:

* System administration experience (2 or more years experience) with specific
knowledge & expertise of the following technologies:

- Xen Hypervisor
- iSCSI & ATAoE Technology
- CentOS
- iptables
- Bash programming

* Working knowledge of the Ruby programming language (2 years experience)
* Strong knowledge about network design & implementation.
* Strong ability to debug & diagnose technical issues & problems.
* Ability to manage & maintain MySQL databases
* Security conscious approach to development & system implementation
* Strong team player and good communication skills
* Fluent in English

Skills desired:

* Familiarity with most flavours of Linux (specifically: Ubuntu, Gentoo & Debian but
others may be required) in addition to CentOS
* Data centre experience.
* Ruby on Rails experience & skill.
* Client-side web technologies: HTML, CSS & Javascript (jQuery) plus knowledge of HAML.
* Experience working with and developing API's
* Nerd-like tendencies

Other skills that would be beneficial, but are not required, include: Python, Business Intelligence software and Enterprise security.

Additionally, candidates should have experience writing tests, performance testing, profiling, and scaling applications.

Applicants should be an expert in at least one topic (it does not have to be coding, we just want you to care about something!!), passionate, analytical, able to see the big picture, entrepreneurial, a strong communicator, flexible, a team player, and willing to take on any task that’s presented.
