If you read the horror stories at Alibaba forums, a lot of people have lost a lot of money trading with China.
I recommend that you only deal with companies which accept PayPal, and ones that preferably mail out of Hong Kong, as mail service from Hong Kong is efficient and cheap, and you have a track 'n trace number.
I did manage to get a refund from a company by threatening to go to the Chinese embassy (they sent defective goods and claimed they worked when they sent them, which was impossible for the type of item it was).
If you require payment by PayPal, you'll be pretty safe. If you pay by bank transfer, you may just be kissing your money goodbye.
Also, Danish customs has recently held up shipments from China while they search for items which violate patents and copyrights, and the delays are 3 to 4 weeks.
When you receive something, you have to pay 25% moms, 12% EU duty, and a 150 DKK fee per shipment. Be prepared to provide an invoice to Danish customs if they stop it because the Chinese labeled it as "$10 gift."
